On the night of the 2019 winter election, pollsters were vindicated by an exit poll and subsequent result that mirrored their predictions precisely.

Ben Page, Chief Executive of Ipsos MORI, as interviewed by Neil Stewart (political commentator, Editorial Director of the Narrowcast Media Group) at an Editorial Intelligence reception the day after the election.  In the interview, he outlined the biggest cultural changes that the election result represents and discussed the challenges that might now face the new Conservative majority government.

The biggest of these shifts is Scotland and London’s cultural and political divergence from the rest of England and Wales. In Page’s own words: “London is now another country.”
